So…In the second game, the party continued their travels along the road, making good time towards the Village of Hillswort, where the Abbey of St. Wort is located. Along the road, they encountered another traveler also heading for the Abbey-A human Magic-User by the name of Roland. After questioning him carefully, the party accepted him into their ranks and continued on. Upon their arrival at the village, they opted to observe the village and environs before going into it. It seemed to their observations that although the Abbey may indeed be taken, the Orkhani invaders had not made their presence known in the Village. There were guards in simple watchtowers and perhaps a few additional militia on the streets of Hillswort, but nothing too out of the ordinary. So, the party ventured down into the Village and were met by the Militia on watch. As soon as they made it clear that they were here to help, they were eagerly led to the manor house of Dunhill Warton. Dunhill seemed eager to gain the parties aid and earnest in his desire to help, though obviously not a battle-ready (or hardened ) veteran himself. he did give the group the basics on the original attack: A night raid by more than a dozen Orkhani who avoided the village and went directly to the Abbey. By the time the Village was made aware of what had happened it(the Abbey) was in control of the Orkhani. A Militia raid was quickly organized and with the aid of a young Hedgewizard who worked for Lord Warton, they assaulted the Abbey directly. A few Militia and the young wizard made it inside the Abbey’s main bldg. but wewre quickly repelled and the Wizard was lost inside-his body not recovered. Also, one other Militia man was killed, run through the chest with a huge shaft (spear?? Ballista?? Something else??) Over the next 24 hours the party made their way around the village, talking to anyone they felt could give them good information, more details, etc.. on the raid and on the Abbey and the Orkhani. They have learned 1) There are perhaps 1 – 2 dozen Orkhani on the Abbey grounds. 2) The Militia man killed by the "spear – actually died by some sort of poison. 3) Huge claw marks are on at least one of the surviving Militi mens bodies but only Orkhani have been observed. 4) the dying Militia man’s last words were “It’s in the Abbey and it has wings”. The 2nd night the party silently invaded the abbey after making arrangements with the remaining Militia to wait for a signal and if heard, assault the front gates again as a diversion for the party. Once inside the walls, they dispatched a couple of Orkhani guards and made it inside. They scouted a few lower floor rooms and the* young elven thief Kaya* found a way in to the central buildings open Courtyard where she found some sort of huge beast – that seemed at least part cat – asleep in the upper branches of the tree. They left it alone and moved upstairs finding the quarters that the monks of the abbey must inhabit. Though the first room had only an Orkhani guard. They dispatched him and now stand in the hall wondering about the dozen or so other doors in the hall and the beast that sleeps on the floor below them.
